Background on BuyIT.gov and the Austin Automation Center

BuyIT.gov is a Federal acquisition center of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the largest civilian Federal agency, specializing in the procurement of IT-related products and services. Authorized under the Government Management Reform Act to provide acquisition services within the Federal Government on a fee-for-service basis, the VA's Austin Automation Center (AAC) partnered with VA's Office of Acquisitions to create BuyIT.gov.

BuyIT.gov improves the acquisition process for other Federal agencies by providing the services of experienced Senior Contracting Officers who deliver comprehensive global acquisition services, from planning through closeout. In the event of technical questions relating to an acquisition, these professionals can also call on the resources of the AAC, the award-winning Federal Data Center within VA.

BuyIT.gov has awarded ten contracts under its Global Information Technology Support Services (GITSS) initiative. BuyIT.gov uses GITSS and other IT-related contracts to manage complex IT acquisitions on behalf of its customers. Additionally, our acquisition services enable all customers to develop contracts specifically for their unique mission objectives.

The subject matter may be complex, but at BuyIT.gov our operating philosophy is simple: provide hassle-free, streamlined, best value contracting solutions for customers at competitive rates.
